Last Update : July 26, 2019 by Olivia

Would you say you’re jealous?

Perhaps a little? but that’s normal…is it?

Jealousy is a human emotion, that’s for sure. However, sometimes jealousy can destroy our lives and the lives of others, that’s why it’s very important to discover if you’re actually the jealous type, and if you find out you are: there are things you can do to improve it!

We’ve already seen that we all have a dating type, that’s right.

If you don’t know yours, we recommend to pass the dating type test to figure out what type of person you seem to be attracted to.

Have you ever considered that you might be the jealous type in your relationship and that it can become a source for problems?

What does “jealous type” mean?

Jealous definition? According to the Cambridge dictionary, jealousy is “a feeling of unhappiness and anger because someone has something or someone that you want”.

However, you’ll probably agree that jealousy in a relationship is a bit different.

Jealousy tends to stem from insecurities and the results can be terrible: over-controlling reactions, lack of respect for your partner’s privacy, obsessive recurrent thoughts and more and more insecurities.

Being the jealous type means being the person in your relationship that is constantly controlling your partner because you’re worried that he/she might cheat on you, or leave you for another person.

The Jealous type meaning: lack of trust in yourself and in your partner= lots of insecurities.

Basically, being the jealous type means not trusting yourself and not trusting your partner, and you’ll probably agree that, when you put it plain and simple like that, it doesn’t seem very fair and it is clearly not a good practice a long-term meaningful relationship, wouldn’t you say?

What makes a jealous type?

Infidelity is a constant fear, we get it. We live in a world that celebrates our uniqueness and individualism, so we tend to see others as constant threats.

On top of that, with the explosion of social media tools like Facebook or Instagram, it has become the norm to post an unrealistic lifestyle that is nowhere close to reality but which, sadly, has a strong psychological impact: it creates more and more insecurities and jealousy on people.

Against this strong current that pushes us towards a life of insecurity and impossible wishes, there are more and more dating alternatives for people that want to regain control of their lives.

In that sense, people are turning more and more to open relationships or polyamorous ones.

If your thing is monogamy, that’s perfectly fine too. You just have to make sure what monogamy means for you and most importantly, if your definition of monogamy and relationship is that same than your partner’s.

A relationship (any kind of relationship for the sake of argument) has to be based on trust.

Without trust, problems, doubts, insecurities, fears and lack of communication will happen.

So, let’s start from the beginning: let’s find out if you’re the jealous type!
